The College of Policing is the professional body for the police service in England and Wales. Job description

You will provide project support services, tools and techniques to a variety of projects, organising project data and developing and managing processes as required to meet College standards and enable the smooth running of the projects.

Person specification

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain good relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers, to gather data and keep them fully informed of programme/project progress.
  • Work with PMO Co-ordinator and Project Improvement Managers and others to prepare realistic project plans, track activities against the plans and provide regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate, updating the plans as needed.
  • Identify, assess and highlight risks and issues to the success of the project, escalating to Project Improvement Managers and others as appropriate.
  • Monitor costs, timescales, quality and resources used and change control requests, and highlight to the Project Improvement Managers and others where these deviate from agreed tolerances.
  • Provide input to quality Gateway reviews and ensures the processes run to College standards and version control of all documents is maintained.
  • Monitor supplier performance data, highlighting and investigating problems and tracking services improvement actions when needed.
  • Track the identified benefits and outcomes for their programme/ projects, highlighting any areas of concern to Project Improvement Managers.
  • Work with the Project Improvement Managers in formally closing their own programme/projects, recording and logging lessons learned and forwarding actions to appropriate parties.
  • Support the development of good practice by researching good practice in project t management and business improvement, highlighting areas for improvement.

This role is available to 31 March 2024 as a fixed term appointment to all applicants, or as a secondment opportunity to:

  • colleagues employed directly by the College or the Civil Service. Please note you will be required to obtain the written support of your line manager prior to submitting your application. Temporary promotion is available.
  • serving police staff at the equivalent rank of Sergeant who have their chief officer's approval. Chief Officer’s approval must be of NPCC rank, i.e., CC, ACC or DCC. Approval for a secondment must accompany an application.

Central service conditions may apply for police staff.
