It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

Based in the offices at our 64 acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Learning & Development Specialist. The role will involve ensuring our colleagues are highly skilled, qualified and experienced in their roles. Ensuring that career pathways are in place to build a workforce for future business growth.

Role Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clear roadmap of current and future skills requirements as part of the strategic workforce plan.

  • Work with business stakeholders to ensure that clear plans are in place to close any gaps in capability.

  • Design and maintain an appropriate skills competency framework to demonstrate our existing skills competency capability.

  • Ensure talent and succession plans are in place for all key roles.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to clearly define career pathways for key roles.

  • A key point of contact to provide advice and guidance on aspects of technical skills training, qualification and accreditation.

  • Support the business in providing expertise, data and evidence towards internal and external audits, to achieve the highest levels of accreditation.

  • Commission and manage relationships with external consultants and training providers to deliver diverse training initiatives.

  • Design and deliver training courses using a blended learning approach.

About You

  • Previous experience working in a L&D role.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

  • Ideally CIPD level 5 qualified or a willingness to work towards the qualification.

  • Experience of implementing skills frameworks across a multi-disciplined, regulated and technical environment.

  • Knowledge of talent and succession planning tools and techniques.

  • Experience of developing career pathways.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Learning Management systems.

  • Experience of design, delivery and evaluation of learning activities using a blended learning approach.

  • Confident and engaging in delivering face to face and virtual training.

  • Experience of developing and implementing skills competency frameworks.

  • Be creative with ability to provide innovative solutions and effective problem solving.

  • Passionate about developing others and supporting people through their careers.

Days/Hours of Work

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday with flexible start and finish times between 6:15am - 9:30am - 14:30 – 18:00
