About the role and our team

Join our team at University College Isle of Man as a Cleaner!

You will work on site during college hours, in classrooms and specialist areas such as construction and special needs units, to assist staff in making the areas safe.

As part of your role, you will be actively involved in the continuous monitoring and reporting of health and safety concerns and maintenance issues.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Washing, cleaning, sweeping, tidying, vacuum cleaning, polishing and dusting
  • Removing litter receptacles for disposal
  • Using mechanical powered equipment where appropriate, e.g. polishing machines, scrubbing machines, vacuum cleaning (wet and dry)

We’re looking for someone with good communication skills, who’s well organised, self-motivated and able to work unsupervised. After an initial period of instruction, you will use your independent judgement and initiative on a daily basis in planning some aspects of the work schedule.

Please note a basic police check is required for this post, which the Department will cover the cost of for you. Please note if you have lived for more than 6 months outside of the UK in the last 5 years, you will be required to obtain a Letter of Good Standing from the appropriate authorities in the relevant locations, please read the guidance about how to obtain this letter.

A uniform will also be provided.
