Production Operator

Vacancy Notice – Production Operative (Melting)

At Ross & Catherall we have an exciting opportunity for a Production Operative to join our melting team.

This is a shift-based role working a three-shift pattern of work compromising a rotating pattern of days (6.00am to
2.00pm), afternoons (2.00pm to 10.00pm) and nights (10.00pm to 6.00am).

The Role

The role involves carrying out all the standard tasks within our Vac Melting department and doing so to the highest safety standard whilst striving to deliver against our quality and delivery targets. Typical tasks within the department include, but are not limited to: mould building, furnace preparation, melting and pot building.

Where any issues arise, or have the potential to cause a concern, a Production Operative is required to bring the matter to the attention of the Shift Management Team immediately, and to take any actions necessary to contain or deal with the issue as appropriate.

Production Operatives are also required to ensure an effective handover is carried out between shifts, maintaining focus on targets, progress against those targets and highlighting any known issues or delays to the oncoming shift.

Interested?

All applicants should be able to demonstrate that they are committed to following our policies and procedures, in particularly regarding safety and quality. Successful applicants will have a high level of attention to detail, with a drive and enthusiasm for learning new skills and an ability to absorb information quickly, reliably, and effectively.
Applicants will be committed to team working, co-operating with others, sharing information effectively and showing commitment to the task.

It is an added advantage if applicants have previous experience within a melting and/or mould building role. In addition, experience in operating forklift truck and overhead cranes is preferred but this is not essential as full training will be provided.
